Because they destroy souls. When you mess with the teachings of Scripture, you are putting stumbling blocks for people to understand the gospel and be saved.
False teachers may claim the right things, but their lifestyle denies the Lordship of Jesus. Their lives contradict their message.
- Why do you think the worst attacks on Christianity come from within the church?
- What are some ways that you and your church can be on guard against secret heresies?
- Do some research: contact three other churches and ask them what false teachings have they faced in the last five years. How did they handle each one? Do you see any of those false teachings (or the beginnings of them) in your church?
