Remember It

Contemplate these questions, then click on each question to see the answer.
1. What is Satan’s primary method of attack on the Church?
False teaching and false teachers. He is a liar, and his power is in his lies.
2. Why are heresies destructive?
Because they destroy souls. When you mess with the teachings of Scripture, you are putting stumbling blocks for people to understand the gospel and be saved.
3. What does Peter mean when he states that false prophets deny the Master who bought them?
False teachers may claim the right things, but their lifestyle denies the Lordship of Jesus. Their lives contradict their message.

Discuss It

  1. Why do you think the worst attacks on Christianity come from within the church?
  2. What are some ways that you and your church can be on guard against secret heresies?

Apply It

  1. Do some research: contact three other churches and ask them what false teachings have they faced in the last five years. How did they handle each one? Do you see any of those false teachings (or the beginnings of them) in your church?
