Discuss It
1. Explain how the list of elder qualifications provided in the Bible is more than a checklist for an individual’s competence to eldership.
Discuss It
2. What evidences do you see in the 21st century that the Holy Spirit still “appoints” individuals to eldership in the church?
Discuss It
3. Discuss ways that can be used to differentiate an individual’s selfish desire for eldership from an obedient desire which is Spirit-led.
Apply It
Make cue cards for all the qualifications listed with one on each card. Put each one in turn in a prominent place to help you remember and pray each day that God will mold your character to match it.
