This message describes how to construct a simple, clear outline and what good sermon structure looks like. A sample sermon outline is used to give concrete examples.
Lecture Outline Detailed Outline Remember ItThis is the means to organize all your material in a clear and easy way to follow. Rambling from point to point confuses the listener. A clear outline allows the listener to follow the logical development and structure of the sermon.
This allows the listener to better remember your points. It also builds anticipation for the next point. Good parallel structure also displays a clear mind and development of thought on the part of the speaker.
If the introduction is too long, it will throw the timing off from the main content of the message. The speaker will run out of time at the very moment he needs the time to make his main point.
- Do you feel that the speaker’s outline for Eph. 6:18-20 properly illustrated all that the speaker stated about good sermon structure?
- Why do you think the speaker emphasized so strongly illustrations and applications?
- Do you think the speaker is organizing the sermon material too much and not giving the Holy Spirit freedom during a message?
