1. List three of the five foundational truths that are the basis for our defense against Satan.
We are much weaker than Satan, Satan’s power is limited, God allows Satan’s attacks but he means it for our good, the battle has already been won, we have divine defenses.
2. What are our divine defenses against Satan? List all six.
Belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, feel shod for the gospel, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, prayer.
3. Where are those defenses found in Scripture?
Ephesians 6:14-19

  1. Which of the foundational truths were you most in need of being reminded of?
  2. Can you think of other biblical passages that provide defenses against Satan? Which of the six parts of the Ephesians 6:14-19 armor do those verses fall in line with?
  3. How can plurality of leadership help when it comes to using these weapons of warfare?

Apply It

  1. Find an elder or a godly individual who is farther along the Christian walk than you, and ask him how he uses some of the weapons of Ephesians 6:14-19. What do those things look like in practice for him?
  2. Memorize the words to Martin Luther’s great hymn “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.”
