1. Why is right motivation necessary to a church elder?
Shepherding people is hard work and emotionally trying. Without godly motivation, one will not last. Also, God is concerned about right motivation for all who serve Him.
2. What deep truth is Paul teaching the Corinthian believers about his life and service from 2 Corinthians 5:14-15?
His sacrifice and sufferings for Christ can be explained by his deep appreciation for Christ’s love for him. Christ gave His life for Paul, and now Paul must live for Christ.
3. What is Paul’s prayer wish for his converts?
That they may know intellectually and experientially the vast and incomprehensible nature of the love of Christ.

Read 2 Corinthians carefully in light of right motivations for giving your life to serve God’s people as a leader. This is the most autobiographical letter of Paul’s. He tells us much about his motivation for serving the church in Corinth.
