The Word of God and prayer.
- What do you consider to be the contributing factors leading to the decline of hospitality in the modern church?
- What possible benefits do you think would occur in your local church if hospitality were practiced on a regular basis?
- What are some concrete steps elders can take to make prayer a priority?
- Go through your church directory and prioritize a list of twelve individuals or families that would benefit most from hospitality. Begin to make hospitality a regular practice in your ministry by inviting one person or family each month to your home for a meal for the next year. Over the course of the year, take note of how your relationships change with your guests, as well as if there is any effect upon the fellowship in your local church as a result of your hospitality.
- Go through your church directory and divide the individuals or families into seven groups. Then, for each day of the week, pray for each group so that at the end of each week you have prayed for everyone in your church. As an added benefit, try to memorize everyone’s name as you pray through your lists, including children and babies.
